Topics

1. May Monthly meeting

Will be May 16th in King & Chinook conference rooms, KSC. 12 Noon

Topics in this newsletter will be covered in more detail at the monthly meeting as needed, and the usual suspects like a treasurer report will make an appearance. Hope to see you there!

2. Bargaining updates

Wastewater Contracts

Next bargaining session is May 29th, and the primary topics of conversation are the compensation items, (pay, COLA, BT Cashout).

Transit Contract Update

Transit TEA members received a special TEA Times announcing a tentative agreement on their contract! Final details and a completed CBA draft are pending, after which there will be a ratification vote scheduled.

3. Leave Requests

Steve Rosane has exhausted his leave balances and his donated leave (thanks for donating!). He has a continuing need for any leave you can donate, thanks.

4. VEBA Ballot

Council of Reps will distribute VEBA ballots next week and we will be collecting the votes June 20th. There are instructions on the ballot and there will be discussion at this monthly meeting and the next.

5. Transit Retro and Deferred Compensation

What to do with that retro check and protect some of it from taxes? An idea from Moneca Allen in deferred comp:

Deferred compensation is always the smart option for reducing your taxable income. Employees can change their contribution amount at anytime, but if they are interested in a one-time change for a specific check, they should set that up with me and not try to do it on line or with T. Rowe Price.

So employees 49 years and younger this year can defer up to $17,000. Those turning 50 this year or older can defer up to $22,500.

I hope this answers your questions. If not let me know.
