December Monthly TEA Member Meeting

December 15, 2010

The meeting agenda:

WW Staff Contract

WW Bargaining Chair John Phillips reports that the staff contract is winding its way through the Council process and will be signed soon.

Transit Spousal Access Fee - Mediation for Retro

TEA has successfully concluded a 3-session mediation with King County. The parties reached an agreement by which the County will return money that was withheld from 33 Transit TEA members as part of the last Arbitration Award. The amount withheld by the County varies between $52 and $892. A meeting was held with the affected Transit members on December 9th. Those who sign an "Agreement and Release" form by December 15th will have the funds returned on their December 23rd paycheck. The mediation settlement agreement states that a minimum target of 70% must sign the "Agreement and Release" form by December 15th. Seventy-six percent had signed by December 10th and those forms have been submitted to the County. Those who have agreed to sign will get their money back on Dec. 23rd.

Grievance Committee is Looking for Members

The TEA Grievance Committee consists of WW and Transit TEA members who agree to evaluate written grievances. The Committee meets once each month and volunteers may need to attend additional meetings if they are assigned as an advocate for any particular grievance. The Committee is looking for one additional member from both WW and Transit. If you are interested in participating on the TEA Grievance Committee, please contact Ken Madden.

Transit Bargaining Unit Meeting - Agenda Items Requested

TEA is planning to host a meeting in the future to discuss ways to get back to the bargaining table and secure members Retro for 2008, 2009 and 2010. If you have any bargaining-related topics that you would like to address at the meeting, please send them to Bargaining Chair Jerry Williams or President Ade Franklin.
