1. December Meetings

  December 10 - TEA Board - 12-1, KSC 4G
  December 11 - WW Bargaining Team - 12-1, KSC 8C
  December 17 - TEA Monthly Member Meeting - 12-1, KSC 5B&C

2. Wastewater Staff Contract Status

The mediation scheduled for December 8th was cancelled by King County's labor negotiator, Amy Bann, just a few hours before the scheduled start of the meeting. TEA was prepared to present a proposal to the County for furloughs and wrapping up the remaining open items in the contract. We will forward our proposal to the County and meet as soon as possible with the negotiator to settle the contract and effects of the furlough. TEA is proposing an agreement on furloughs similar to the agreement that was presented to other union members in wastewater. The bargaining team would like to present a contract that the bargaining unit can vote on with the mitigation for the furloughs included as soon as possible.

When a new mediation date is set, we will let the bargaining committee and Council of Reps know. A bargaining committee meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2008 noon to 1 p.m. in KSC 8C. TEA has received assurances in writing that the county will honor merit increases for 2009, regardless of the status of the contract.

3. Transit Staff Arbitration Status

Arbitrator Michael Beck has indicated that he will render his preliminary decision and award this week.

4. December Member Meeting - Lunch Provided

The TEA Board would like to invite all TEA members to celebrate a holiday lunch at the December monthly meeting on December 17th. The meeting and lunch will take place in KSC rooms 5 B&C.
