SPECIAL EDITION
Transit Bargaining Update

Monthly Meeting

The May membership meeting is Wed., 5/18, 12-1 in room 5B/C.

Agenda: Treasurers Report, Bargaining Updates, Open Discussion

Transit Bargaining Update

The latest Transit Bargaining session was on 5/13. Both sides agreed to TA several contract articles. In fact, they TA'd a 2-for (two of these for one of those) which begins a process to speed up the bargaining process. Both sides agreed to limit any "new" items to the next bargaining session on June 10th. This will likely coincide with the development of "what-if" packages.

On 5/5, TEA made a proposal for "certification pay" and refined the proposal on 5/13. Similar language exists in the Wastewater contracts. Transit managers asked if anyone had done a survey to determine how many Transit TEA members would be affected and how many certifications folks held. TEA offered to conduct a survey of Transit members.

Future negotiation sessions are scheduled for 6/10, 6/17 and 6/23.

King County's Furlough Appeal

No new news. Still waiting for the Judge to make a ruling.

KSC Space Planning

Heads up that a space planning process is underway. Randy Witt alerted TEA that planners will be on the 4th floor taking measurements and discussing plans for reconfiguring some space in D&C's area. Randy may provide an update at the All Hands meeting today. He reported to TEA that while data gathering is underway, no decisions have been made.
