Transit Medical Benefits Change - Upcoming Meeting

Transit members should be aware that they have migrated to the standard County medical benefits package with the implementation of the contract arbitration decision. Based on member requests, two lunch brown-bag meetings have been scheduled for you to learn about the plans and ask your questions about changes. Jim Lindler of OHRM Benefits Section will conduct the sessions, and you can come to either one. Both will be held in rooms 7044/7045, the "North Wind" and "South Wind" rooms on the 7th floor of KSC. Please attend on either Monday May 23rd or Tuesday May 24th!

New Contract Negotiations for both Transit and Wastewater about to start!!

Please attend this week's monthly TEA member meeting to discuss any issues you want to have considered as we begin to negotiate new contracts. We will use the majority of the meeting to hear member input and discuss what is important in our next round of contract bargaining. TEA is seeking, per the new bylaw amendment, interested members for each Bargaining Team (one for WW, one for Transit). From this group of advisory members, individuals will be chosen to help conduct the actual negotiations. Please consider joining this effort; negotiation sessions are under the paid release time protection in our contracts. And please come to the meeting with your ideas!

Welcome new Grievance Committee members

The recently passed bylaw amendment allowed expanding the Grievance Committee to eight members (plus the elected Chair, Roger Browne). The Executive Board has appointed willing nominees Marc Dallas, Elizabeth Gaskill, Ken Madden, and Don Marable. They join current members David Kingsbury, Susan McDonald-Wright, Garrett Stronks, and Lisa Taylor. Our thanks to all of them for their willingness to serve on this critical Committee. This group not only will investigate, review and recommend on any grievances brought by members, but will also be called to represent members in various capacities (like for potential discipline hearings). Any member can request representation in any situation where they believe a witness or representative may be necessary.
