1. Training Opportunity — Know Your Rights!

The next TEA monthly brown bag training session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, from 12-1pm.

This month's topic is Rights of Disabled Employees. Join us at noon this Thursday on the second floor, conference rooms 2A/2B.

2. Leave Donation Request

Eric Mandel, WTD CSO Coordinator and a former TEA Officer, was in a serious accident and is in need of some help with additional leave time. If you can donate some time it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact your Human Resources office for additional information and the appropriate forms.

3. Paid Parental Leave Pilot Program Vote Results

Of the 132 votes cast, eight were ineligible to vote. Of the 124 eligible votes, the results are as follows:

Transit Bargaining Unit: Yes: 10 No: 23
The Transit Bargaining unit rejected the MOA, and will not participate in the Paid Parental Leave Pilot Program in 2016.

Wastewater Staff Bargaining Unit: Yes: 55 No: 28
The Wastewater Staff Bargaining approved the MOA, and will participate in the Paid Parental Leave Pilot Program in 2016.

John Phillips, TEA President, signed the MOA for the Wastewater Staff on February 1, 2016.

As part of the agreement, King County Family and Medical Leave (KCFML) will run concurrent to the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), instead of consecutively, as it does now, effective August 1, 2016. This change will not expire. The Paid Parental Leave Pilot Program will run concurrently with KCFML/FML.

The Wastewater Supervisors Bargaining Unit vote resulted in a tie (4 — 4); therefore, the MOA will not be signed, and this bargaining unit will not participate in the Paid Parental Leave Pilot Program in 2016.

4. Monthly TEA Meeting

The Monthly Meeting will be held Wednesday, February 17, in the 5th Floor Cloaca/Harappa conference room(s).

5. Wastewater Bargaining Committee

The Legislative Package for the TEA WW Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is under review in the Transportation, Economy & Environment Committee as of February 2, 2016.

Please contact Alton Gaskill, TEA Wastewater Bargaining Chair, if you have any questions or concerns.

6. Transit Bargaining Committee

The most recent contract mediation session was held on January 11th with PERC mediator Matt Greer. The next scheduled mediation session is February 9th.
