1. TEA Monthly Meeting

The May TEA member meeting is scheduled for the third Wednesday, 5/21, in the Cloaca Maxima and Harappa Rooms, KSC 5th Floor from 12-1pm. All members are welcome. The primary focus of the meeting will be to discuss the VEBA vote.

Please send additional agenda items to the President or Secretary.

2. VEBA Vote

TEA will be conducting a VEBA vote on June 18, 2014 at the monthly meeting to determine participation in the 2015 VEBA program for each individual bargaining unit. Ballots will be distributed to members by June 11th and must be submitted to the TEA Secretary by noon on June 18 to be counted.

Quick Summary of VEBA vote:

"Eligible to Retire" means 20 years service credit in the PERS system and will be at least age 55 by Dec 2015; or, 5 or more years of service credit in PERS and will be at least age 65 by Dec 2015. There is a PERS one variation which requires age 55 and 30 years, but assume if you are PERS one that you are eligible. Let us know if you have PERS eligibility outside the County, by providing a copy of your DFRS statement.

Please visit the King County Benefits home page to find information on the VEBA program.

3. WW Bargaining Committee

The WW Bargaining Committee met on April 8, 2014 and further identified bargaining issues for this year's Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Committee will also be ramping up efforts on collecting salary information. We anticipate that bargaining will begin in June.

4. Transit Contract Update

The roll over contract has been signed and has been transmitted by Labor Relations to the Executive who has transmitted it to the King County Council for adoption by ordinance. Currently we anticipate the contract will be approved by the King County Council this summer. Check in with Elizabeth Wright, Transit Bargaining Chair, if you have any questions.

5. Leave Donation Request

Chris Okuda is struggling with an extended medical recovery and would appreciate any leave donations you can provide. Thank you.
